3 Videos that made my day, today. Journey for inspiring myself.

It is kind of wierd that today started of as a depressing day and proceeded to become a very pleasant day.

My plan for today was to go for a 45km sunday morning ride with Cyclers_Thrissur to Peechi Dam.

  • I kept everything ready in check yesterday itself.

  • I woke up at 5:45 in the morning

  • Got ready

  • Took my cycle started my ride

  • Reached 1 km

Then I noticed my cycle back tyre went flat ;( There wasn't much to do because its sunday morning and there is no way I can get it fixed. I reluctantly turned back home. I spend ~1 hour Learning Microsoft 365 Fundamentals : Word on Coursera. Another hour learning Communication in the 21st Century Workplace Course. And another hour watching videos suggested in the additional content section of the course. And the three videos I found here is what I want to share with you. Or atleast the key takeaways.

Video 1 : Start with why -- how great leaders inspire action | Simon Sinek | TEDxPugetSound

Key Takeaways :

People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it:

Simon Sinek argues that people are more likely to connect with a message that inspires them emotionally and aligns with their values rather than just a product or service's features.

The Golden Circle
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Sinek

He explains about the Golden Circle, a model for understanding why some companies or leaders are able to inspire while others are not. The three components of the circle are:

  • why : emphasize the importance of starting with the purpose

  • how : then moving onto the process

  • what : finally the product

Why is the most important component. "why" is the foundation of the Golden Circle and is the driving force behind what a company does and how it does it.

Martin Luther King Jr. and Steve Jobs

People who starts their career with a "Why" always inspires others. Whether they are in Education, Politics, Consumer Products or any other business, they focused on communicating their "why".

Video 2 : What is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Personality Assessment?

Ok, This topic is something which is really close to my heart because this is what helped mein the past to identify myself when I was going through basically Hell. I took the test and it suggested that I show significant traits of a ENFP-A character. I did not take the official paid test instead I settled for the 16Personalities Free Test which is a great alternative and Yes, going through the results It definitely shows a lot of similairites.

Key Takeaways & Explanations :

  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality assessment that measures psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions.

Are you interested in doing the same? here are some links that will help you know more.

Note : I am not affiliated or partnered with any of these sites. Creating accounts & using paid plans should be done in your sole descretion.

Once You take the test, You get a 4 Letter Type that your traits identify with. There are no winners or losers here. Everyone is unique. These tests only help people identify their personalities and use it their advantage.

Video 3 : What's Your Type? | Jean Kummerow | TEDxGrinnellCollege

In this video, Jean shared her own experience of MBTI test and how it helped her better understand herself and others. She also discusses the communication impact, potential limitations, over generalisation of WorkPlace Personality Assessments and more. This one I won't explain much because it is better to watch and understand so as to not miss-out the speaker experience.

Ok then, Winding up with another Quote which i came accross in the Communications Course

"We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." - Anais Nin

This should be it for the day. Will be writing more in upcoming weeks.

Now I'll go and get my cycle fixed so I can ride tomorrow.
